THE PROJECT
Initial site survey and investigations
Preparing Resource Consent applications and involvement in preparing the outline plan of works application
Preparing design drawings and specifications for tendering, consenting and construction
Monitoring the construction works on behalf of the main contractor
Involvement in gaining certified completion
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS
The project had a short design and build development period of approximately 18 months with a fixed deadline for completion at the beginning of the 2012 school year.
The site was located on the undeveloped urban fringe of urban Papakura. This meant all utility services had to be extended, or onsite management was required. This included :
Wastewater pump station and rising main
Water supply extension
On-site fire protection
On-site stormwater management in accordance with the catchment management plan
The project also had to achieve a 5 Star “Green Star” rating for environmental acceptability which, for us, included:
Minimisation of works
Balanced earthworks
The use of specific materials
Waste material control
The project was completed on time and achieved its 5 Star “Green Star” rating. We met all challenges and have since been engaged to provide civil Engineering services by the same client on a similar project for the Ministry of Education.
