Civil Structures

Our Civil Engineering skills are supported with design of associated structures such as retaining walls, tanks, fencing and various utility structures.
Retaining Walls
Retaining walls can range from small, aesthetic landscaping features, to heavy engineering projects. We are specialist designers of retaining walls using a wide range of forms and materials.

Water Retaining / Tanks
We design water reservoirs, weirs, open or roofed treatment tanks and detention tanks for water tightness and wave effects that occur during earthquakes.

Underground Structures
Deep or large shafts and manholes require specialist structural design. We can guide you on the most appropriate construction methodologies, including the incorporation of cost-effective precast elements.

Utility
Lighting and communication poles often require specifically designed foundations for non-typical situations or difficult soil conditions. We design foundation plinths, housing structures and wash-down pads for fixed and removable plant and switching equipment.

Walls
We’ll work with you to determine if your free-standing landscaping wall requires building consent and specific or “non-specific” design.

Barriers
If your building or structure has a fall height of 1m or more, we can design a functional barrier to prevent falling.

Fences
If you need tall open mesh fences, we can specially design these for you and advise on building consent. If your fencing is at the edge of a fall hazard, such as a retaining wall, then we’ll also design a specifically engineered barrier.

I would like to compliment Dodd Civil Consultants on the site management of our development and in particular attendance to Health and Safety.
